Insurer: American Family Insurance (Madison, Wisc.)

Carney's take: Mobile apps use the capabilities of mobile phones to simplify customer interactions by taking steps out of a variety of processes. American Family's DreamVault Home Inventory app uses a speech-to-text function to create or update a home contents inventory—so I don’t have to type the contents, I can tell the app the contents. I played with this—as a non-customer, AmFam lets you inventory 25 things—and the speech recognition was ridiculously good.
