Atlanta-based American Safety Insurance Services has named several new executives in its underwriting department.
Ambuj Jain is the new chief underwriting officer of U.S. insurance operations. Jain has served in several senior management positions with American Safety since 2004, according to the company.
“AJ has shown remarkable leadership and discipline in designing and moving the organization forward," Joseph D. Scollo, American Safety president and COO, says in a statement. "In his new role he will be able to focus on leveraging our diversified E&S product platform."
Reporting to Jain are two promotions: Preston Starr, who is now SVP of E&S casualty, being replaced in his former post as VP of environmental by Scott Kreuzer. Kreuzer had been an AVP in that department.
Also reporting to Jain are two new hires: Michael Cifone is SVP of surety, having previously served in that role at Acstar Insurance; and Ellen O'Connor is SVP of property. She had been SVP of custom property and inland marine at Seneca/Crum & Forster.
“Preston Starr has been instrumental in our growth and success in the eight years he has been with the Company. In particular, he has done an outstanding job of turning around, building and leading the Environmental Unit since 2007. Scott Kreuzer brings a wealth of diverse experience and has worked hard to support the growth of the Environmental Unit," Jain says in a statement. “Adding professionals with Mike and Ellen’s qualifications to our surety and property units will help us further expand our underwriting capabilities. These segments of the market represent opportunities for us to grow, and we are confident that they will be instrumental in helping us achieve our corporate vision.”
