Aviva Launches iter8-based Broker Connectivity Solution

Building on a long-standing carrier/vendor relationship, Aviva will apply iter8's communic8 platform to reducing the time and effort necessary for a broker to transfer a book of business to insurer.

Seeking to improve broker ease-of-doing business, Aviva Canada (Scarborough, Ontario) has launched broker portfolio transfer capabilities using communic8, a broker connectivity solution provided by Toronto-based iter8. The solution will reduce the time and effort necessary for a broker to transfer a book of business to Aviva, according to an iter8 statement.

The solution represents the expansion of an eight-year carrier/vendor relationship. During that time, Aviva has been using the communic8 platform for both CSIO EDI downloads and real-time comparative rater integration with brokers. According to iter8, the effective performance of communic8 and strong support from the vendor led Aviva to expand the role of the product into broker portfolio transfer.

The vendor's communic8 product enables the flagging of policies within a broker management system for upload and transport to Aviva via CSIO. communic8 seizes the information and populates core systems at Aviva, according to iter8.

"This represents another concrete step towards ensuring our brokers are provided with a broad range of technologies to help them and help Aviva serve current and prospective customers," comments Greg Somerville, executive VP, broker distribution, Aviva. He added, "Historically, portfolio transfer has been a manual, labour intensive, time-consuming process for our brokers, and we're pleased to be able to change that."

The project has involved extensive testing with several Aviva brokers, and will be extended to all brokers who can utilize the service, the vendor says. Aviva's business development Aviva will work with the broker channel to apply the solution, focusing on the leading broker management systems, according to iter8.

Phil Henville, Vice President of Product development at iter8 stated, "Enhanced portfolio transfer is designed to use communic8 to automate and extend the book evaluation tools for Aviva. It demonstrates Aviva's strong commitment to invest in their broker partners."
