Britt Glisson Named Chief Administrative Officer of Markel Corporation

Britt Glisson has been named chief administrative officer of Richmond, Va.-based Markel Corporation, which markets and underwrites specialty insurance products and programs for a variety of niche markets.

In his new position, Glisson will be responsible assuring efficient, cost effective operations for Markel Corporation in North America. Glisson has been with Markel since 1990, first as chief financial officer and later as president and chief operating officer of Essex Insurance Company. In 1996, he became president/chief operating officer of Markel Insurance Company, the position he held just prior to his promotion.
