QCSI Takes BCBS-Montana to School
A reduction in training costs is the impetus behind Blue Cross Blue Shield of Montana's (BCBSMT, Eagan, MT) choice of Quality Care Solutions Inc.'s (QCSI, Phoenix) qUniversity solution to provide Web-based training to the carrier's employees. The Web-based training courses are accessed via the corporate learning portal of QCSI, a provider of information technology software and services for healthcare payers.
According to Marianne Krpan, vice president of member services and support, within the next year BCBSMT anticipates enrolling approximately 450 employees in qUniversity. The courses, offered as both new training and refresher courses, says Krpan, will enable BCBSMT employees to more efficiently process claims and configure benefits.
BCBSMT had an existing relationship with QCSI. The carrier licensed the technology vendor's healthcare administration system, QMACS, in early 2002. qUniversity training, says Krpan, will enable its employees to truly harness the power of QMACS.
qUniversity, according to QSCI, was developed for self-directed learning as well as managed learning enabling organizations to define their learning requirements. According to Gary Cahill, director of training, education and documentation for QCSI, by deploying qUniversity on a wide scale level, clients can better leverage their internal resources to drive down administrative costs and increase member satisfaction levels.
