Two P&C insurers have announced revamps of their claims systems, at a time when industry observers note that carriers who neglect their claims operations face problems competing in the market.

West Des Moines, Iowa-based Farm Bureau Financial Services has selected Accenture (New York) Claim Components for personal and commercial lines claims processing.

“We were looking for a system with the technology to support all facets of claims processing and increase automation so that our agents and adjusters can focus even more on our customers," Farm Bureau P&C GM Dan Pitcher says in a statement.

Meanwhile, Harrisburg, Pa.-based Millers Mutual will work with Sandy Springs, Ga.-based Ravello Systems on a claims upgrade including mobile first notice of loss capabilities.

"We are replacing all of our legacy systems with state-of-the-art components and we’re re-tooling each and every electronic interface to make it easier for agents to conduct business with us," Robert Lyon, president and CEO of Millers, says in a statement.

"Ravello’s claims management system meets all of Millers’ needs with respect to claims functionality and ease of integration with other system components," Millers CIO Larry Fortin adds. "We are confident that Ravello will help us achieve our goal of providing a web-based claims process with clean user interfaces."
