CNA Names Execs for European, Canadian Businesses

Appointments include a new chief executive for CNA Europe, and president and COO for CNA Canada.

In its second and third executive appointments this week, CNA Financial Corporation has named David Brosnan the chief executive of CNA Insurance Company Limited (CNA Europe) and John Hennessy the president and COO of CNA Canada.

Brosnan will begin his new role effective August 18 and continue to serve as chief executive of Hardy Underwriting, which was acquired by the insurer in 2012. He joined CNA in May 2013 as SVP of its International division, where he led its underwriting team in improving the Home Foreign business and broadening international efforts. Prior to that, he held multiple executive positions at ACE Canada including president and CEO of ACE INA and ACE INA Life Insurance Companies, and president of ACE Casualty Risk.

In his new role, Hennessy will be responsible for developing profitable growth strategies for CNA’s Canadian initiatives. He will begin in mid-September and report to Brosnan. Hennessy joined CNA in 1982 and most recently served as chief executive of CNA Europe, where he worked for more than five years to expand its international operations. Prior to that, he held multiple home office and field leadership roles.
