Crum & Forster Creates Analytics VP Position
Crum & Forster has hired Roger Potter as its first VP of data analytics. In this newly created position, Potter will lead a new initiative to assist the company's underwriting, marketing, and claims operations through data mining and predictive modeling.
Potter "will expand and enhance C&F's quantitative analysis capabilities and work closely with business leaders to identify areas where the use of business intelligence and strategic analyses can improve operating efficiencies and underwriting results," according to a statement from the Morristown, N.J.-based specialty insurer.
Potter will be based in Morristown, NJ, reporting to Matt Kunish, SVP and chief actuary Matt Kunish is Potter's direct report. He said in a statement that Potter "will drive our efforts to better utilize the vast amount of data we collect and translate it into strategic business solutions."
"Data, by itself, without in-depth analysis in conjunction with business needs, is ineffective," Kunish added.
Wanted: Qualified Data Scientists
Potter last served as Head of Advanced Analytics for Wolters Kluwer subsidiary TyMetrix, which works with corporate law departments and claims organizations. He has also worked at Travelers and The Hartford.
