Document Demands
In order to meet the document requirements of every state in which it operates, Chattanooga, Tenn.-based UnumProvident (UNM; $10.4 billion in revenue) is deploying Exstream Software's (Lexington, Ky.) Windows-based Dialogue enterprise document software as a common platform for designing, managing and producing policyholder communications. "We chose Dialogue for its scalable architecture and reusable design components," notes James Smith, VP of acquisition services, UNM.
Dialogue's collaborative design environment will give UNM users more control over creation, personalization and maintenance of document content, according to the vendor. But most important, the Dialogue compliance support module will automate content inclusion or exclusion based on effective dates and jurisdictions, simplifying regulatory compliance, Exstream says.
UNM started converting 30,000 design elements and 7,000 pieces of text from its proprietary document designing system, Magic, onto Dialogue in June 2006. The carrier is preparing for a September implementation by installing Microsoft (Redmond, Wash.) SQL Server and Windows 2003 on its in-house document repositories, and will go live with the solution in March 2007, according to John Harris, systems consultant for acquisition development, UNM.
