Esurance Speeds Up Claims with Video Appraisals

Real-time video chat allows consumers to speak with appraisers, discuss claims and receive electronic payments.

Esurance continues its aggressive tech-related marketing strategy with the addition of video appraisals to its mobile app. Consumers can use the capability to schedule video chats with Esurance representatives to receive claims estimates on the spot. Esurance plans to improve efficiency by allowing consumers to schedule appraisals and learn their claims estimate in real time. At the conclusion, the appraiser can send an electronic payment to settle the claim.

Wow. This is pretty powerful, especially when you consider it takes some adjusters from other companies days or even weeks to do an 'in person' appraisal. Customers must love it.

Interesting! esurance must love it too, the bulk of claim information is happening in a single session, helping to speed up their process time per customer. Also, no chance of photoshopping pictures or questionable angles that might be submitted, this way the agent can survey the damage and coach the customer on the best way to take the picture.

Given their ads, Esurance definitely wants to be known as the frontrunner in efficiency and service. I wonder if GEICO will do anything to respond.

Esurance's mandate to be innovative has taken it in a lot of different directions recently. On a plane (which is the only time I really watch TV) I saw their commercials saying they can save people money in half the time of GEICO's 15 minutes for the first time. Its clear they are staking a claim to speed and the modern customer experience.
