New IASA President
Mark A. Robison was elected president of the Insurance Accounting & Systems Association (IASA; Durham, N.C.). Robison is vice president and treasurer of Fort Wayne, Ind.-based Brotherhood Mutual Insurance Co.
McGavick to Resign
Mike McGavick intends to resign his position as CEO of Safeco (Seattle), effective Aug. 31. McGavick is expected to run for the office of U.S. Senator for the state of Washington in 2006.
Harleysville Names Toth SVP of Claims
Harleysville Insurance (Harleysville, Pa.) named Kevin M. Toth SVP of claims. Toth will be responsible for all claims activities for the organization. Prior to joining Harleysville, Toth was an attorney with Philadelphia-based law firm Reed Smith.
C&H Names Pres.
The Citizens and Hanover Insurance Cos. (Worcester, Mass.) named Michael R. Christiansen president of its New England region. Christiansen formerly was a senior executive with Liberty Mutual's (Boston) independent and broker distribution channel and CEO of Peerless Insurance.
Bedell Joins MapInfo
MapInfo (Troy, N.Y.) hired Craig Bedell as director of insurance strategy. Bedell, who most recently worked as an internal business consultant at Fireman's Fund Insurance Co. (Novato, Calif.), will lead MapInfo's insurance vertical strategy.
