Bloomington, Ill.-based State Farm has named Bill Pieroni operations VP to assist with strategic planning. Pieroni most recently was global CIO of Chicago-based Aon. Previously, he was head of IBM's (Armonk, N.Y.) Global Insurance Industry practice.

Erie Insurance Group (Erie, Pa.) appointed Jeffrey D. Stempora as SVP, division officer, and CIO to guide IT strategy and execution. Previously, Stempora served as EVP, chief strategist, CIO, and global head of strategy and strategic initiatives for technology infrastructure at Citigroup (New York).
