FBL Financial Promotes Life Companies COO
FBL Financial Group, Inc. has announced the appointment of Raymond (Ray) W. Wasilewski to COO for Life Companies. The position had been vacant since May 2014, when former COO John D. Currier, Jr. resigned for personal reasons.
Wasilewski joined FBL Financial in 1997 and most recently held the role of chief administrative officer. Since May 2013, this position gave him responsibility for the organization’s IT, Human Resources and Agency Services divisions. He has also served as VP of IT and on the leadership team of FBL Financial’s former subsidiary EquiTrust Life, which included a term as its VP of Technology.

FBL Financial plans to search for a new head of IT, which Wasilewski will no longer manage in his new role, said FBL Financial in an email to I&T. He will oversee operations for Farm Bureau Life Insurance Company, the organization’s primary operating subsidiary.
“Ray’s appointment to lead Farm Bureau Life’s operations reflects his insurance expertise, as well as analytical and leadership skills, which Ray has clearly demonstrated in his varied roles at FBL,” said James P. Brannen, CEO of FBL Financial, in a statement.
