Insurance and financial services organization Starr Companies has announced the appointment of Eleanor Kitzman as vice president of Starr Insurance Holdings, Inc. She will take on a range of managerial, regulatory and operational responsibilities in Starr’s domestic and international businesses.

Kitzman most recently held the position of Texas Insurance Commissioner and has twenty-five years of leadership experience in the insurance industry and regulatory community. Her previous positions include executive director for the South Carolina Budget & Control Board and director of the South Carolina Department of Insurance.

“Eleanor’s unique combination of skills and experience in law, business and state government will be valuable to Starr as we continue to develop and launch new products and deliver additional services in the marketplace,” said Maurice R. Greenberg, chairman and CEO of Starr Insurance Holdings, in a release.
