Hyland Software (Cleveland) says it seeks to address the increase of remote work, the dependence of business process on technology, and the increase of regulatory compliance demands with the release of version 9.2 of its OnBase enterprise content management (ECM) suite. The new release features more than 850 additions and enhancements, including what the vendor terms a full-featured offline client, Mobile Workflow for BlackBerry and workflow integration with Microsoft Outlook.

Hyland offers the following description of features of OnBase 9.2 that help to keep users involved in business processes regardless of their location:
Offline client: Provides a working OnBase client from anywhere, even if there's no Internet access. Example: Social workers in the field can enter notes, scan documents, fill out electronic forms and retrieve documents from OnBase while disconnected. Once they reconnect, the information automatically synchronizes with the rest of the system.
Mobile Workflow for BlackBerry: Users stay involved in processes through a secure BlackBerry connection. Example: A manager is on the road, but needs to review a purchase order within an hour to lock in a discounted rate on the product. Now, he or she can approve or deny the request through a BlackBerry.
Document Transfer: Allows for the sharing of information between two or more OnBase systems, regardless of organizational structure or geographical location. Example: Government agencies operate separately, but oftentimes need to share information. Document Transfer automates content sharing among several OnBase systems, enabling employees to search and retrieve information from a single point of access.
