IDP Owner Peter Carlino Dies at 92
Peter Carlino, an owner of IDP Insurance Data Processing Inc., died November 29 at the age of 92, the company announced December 19. He is survived by eight children, including his son David Carlino, who will continue to serve as IDP’s CEO and Chairman, roles he assumed in 2011 and 2009 respectively.
Carlino was CEO of the Carlino Financial Corp., a family-owned business, when it acquired IDP from Marsh & McLennan in 1985. Following that acquisition, he served in a variety of executive and consulting roles. Carlino began his insurance career during the 1950s with the Germantown Fire Insurance Co. He later formed the Germantown Title Insurance Co. and acquired the Penn Title Insurance Co., merging the two businesses in 1969.
