Munich Re To Replace Legacy
As part of a centralization effort aimed at speeding its processes, reinsurer Munich Re (Munich) will use the reinsurance capability of mySAP Insurance from SAP(Walldorf, Germany). The solution will handle Munich Re's core business processes and replace various legacy systems.
"Munich Re needs to implement an infrastructure that supports the needs of a global player," says Udo Schucar, project manager, Munich Re. "Common data, common processes and organizational flexibility will lead to much better transparency of our business." According to Schucar, the contract was awarded at the end of an intensive feasibility study that Munich Re conducted. Schucar relates that, aside from business functionality, the reinsurer chose SAP because Munich Re has implemented a number of SAP products and has had good results. Currently, Munich Re is analyzing and describing its global business and IT requirements with an international project team. "During this blueprinting phase we are following a business-process oriented approach," says Schucar. "Recently we started the realization phase, consisting of customizing, add-on, interface development and data conversion."
