New York Life Names James T. Bain SVP and Head of Application Development

The former first vice president for cooperate and distribution systems development will be responsible for supporting the insurers entire U.S.insurance operations.

New York Life (New York) has promoted James T. Bain to senior vice president and head of the application development organization within the carrier's corporate information department. Previously, Mr. Bain was first vice president overseeing system development for corporate and distribution systems. He will continue to report to SVP and CIO Eileen Slevin.

Bain is responsible for systems development supporting the entire U.S. insurance operations, including U.S. Life & Agency, Retirement Income Security, Individual Policy Services and Corporate Operations, according to a New York Life statement. Prior to becoming first vice president, he held positions of increasing responsibility in the Controller’s, Agency and Corporate Information Departments, where his collaborative efforts with the business areas resulted in the development of several of the company’s proprietary systems, designed to enhance communication between agents and the company. Bain joined New York Life in 1976.
