Oregon Mutual Takes Core to the Cloud

The company has elected a cloud deployment of the software.

Oregon Mutual Insurance Company has selected MajescoMastek’s STG Suite to replace its existing core insurance systems including policy administration, billing and claims the companies announced today.

Oregon Mutual has elected a cloud deployment of the software in order to bring down total cost of ownership and speed implementation. The company first explored the cloud for rating with ClarionDoor, an initiative that won it an SMA innovation award last year.

"We are confident with our STG Suite decision given the thorough review of both the product and MajescoMastek’s customer centric approach to delivery, along with their reputation in the industry," Oregon Mutual CIO Bryan Fowler says in a statement. We look forward to the solution advancing our core systems and operations’ futurization imperative, and to provide the agent and customer-centric functionality we are focused on. Internally, we are also excited by the business process changes that their suite enables, in part, facilitated by their approach to updating and managing ISO content using ERC.”

re: Oregon Mutual Takes Core to the Cloud
It's important to note that these implementations are not primarily focused on cost savings, although lower TCO and cost efficiencies obviously are important motivations. Rather, it's goals such as transparency, flexibility, speed, etc., that Oregon Mutual hopes to gain with the core systems and ratings implementations. You can read more about the decision behind handling rating in the cloud in the Q&A I did with Bryan Fowler last fall: http://www.insurancetech.com/a...

Starting to see some banks putting their core deposits systems in the cloud too. Seems like people are more and more willing to trust the cloud with their most important IT infrastructure.
