Reflections on MetLife's New Data Vendor Management Group

The insurer's creation of the group for the management and governance of contracts and third party vendors shows recognition of new vendor management challenges.

MetLife's creation of a new Data Vendor Management group for the management and governance of contracts and third party vendors to the carrier's Data Management & Business Analytics organization validates what I&T has seen as a trend of insurers to take steps to handle the evolving challenges created by changing software, service and data delivery channels and methods.

That is in fact the topic of our our current issue. In my cover story, "Insurers Must Rethink Vendor Relationships in the Cloud," I raised questions about the vendor relationship implications of new software and service delivery models.
