Craig Lowenthal of Glatfelter Insurance Group Elected IASA President

The 21-year insurance technology veteran was elected at the organization’s annual meeting.

The Insurance Accounting & Systems Association (IASA) elected Craig S. Lowenthal of Glatfelter Insurance Group president for the 2010-2011 fiscal year at its Annual Educational Conference & Business Show.

"Craig Lowenthal has been a dedicated IASA volunteer for many years and brings a deep understanding of the goals of the association to bear as IASA President," Joe Pomilia, IASA Executive Director, says in a statement. "Craig's passion for volunteering and his technology background in the insurance industry will help us expand on two areas of critical importance to the association."

Lowenthal, a social media strategist for York, Pa.-based Glatfelter, has been an insurance technology professional for 21 years. He has also been CIO for NYMagic (New York; managing principal and CIO for Integro Insurance Brokers (New York); vice president and CIO for Hartford Financial Products (New York); and managing vice president and CTO for Reliance National Insurance Company (Philadelphia).

"As a CPA and a former CIO, I believe I understand the educational needs of the IASA membership very well," said Lowenthal. "As IASA President, I am very much looking forward to promoting the benefits of volunteering to the industry on a larger scale, and in evangelizing the value that IASA educational offerings can have for insurance professionals of all responsibilities and at all levels."

The Association also nominated Ruth Estrich of MedRisk as president-elect; Louise Ziemann of State Farm as chief financial officer; Ed Kruger of Indiana Farm Bureau as CIO; and Mike Monahan of ACLI, Tom Ewbank of Ewbank Group, Tim Morgan of Republic Insurance, and Ernie Pearson of SECURA Insurance, as board members at-large.
