SeaBright Uses Predictive Modeling in Managed Care Platform

BrightCurePDQ’s model identifies injured employees with serious return-to-work challenges, the company claims.

Seattle-based SeaBright Insurance Company, a specialty underwriter of multi-jurisdictional workers’ compensation insurance, has launched BrightCurePDQ, a predictive modeling technology that helps manage lost-time claims.

Claims are identified based on employees that represent the greatest cost potential and return-to-work challenges, SeaBright says. The company’s occupational and orthopedic physicians review, authorize and direct treatment and pharmaceutical requests through the platform.

“With physicians managing medical care for our policyholders’ injured workers, better care will be delivered faster, facilitating an earlier recovery and return to work,” Dr. Marc Miller, SVP and chief medical officer for SeaBright Insurance Company, says in a statement. “Injured workers get a better medical outcome, and employers get them back to work sooner, preserving productivity and lowering overall claim cost.”

BrightCurePDQ is only available in California at this time, but availability in other areas is coming, SeaBright says.
