The Hartford Forms Distribution Partnership with Intuit

Intuit will market The Hartford's XactPAY Web premium payment platform, and the carrier will in turn market Intuit's payroll solution to its small business commercial agents.

The Hartford and Intuit Inc. (Mountain View, Calif.), a provider of business and financial management solutions for small and mid-sized businesses, have entered into a strategic alliance whereby each will share access to their customers. Intuit customers will be pitched The Hartford's XactPAY Web workers' compensation premium payment service, which enables The Hartford's policyholders to pay premiums one payroll at a time. In turn, The Hartford will pitch Intuit Payroll to the customers of the carrier's small business commercial agents.

Paying premium by payroll helps improve a business' cash flow by eliminating the need for large down payments and minimizing the potential for year-end audit adjustments, according to a joint statement by Intuit and The Hartford.

XactPAY Web, fully integrated with Intuit QuickBooks Payroll, automatically calculates the premiums for Hartford-issued workers' compensation policies each time payroll is run using QuickBooks Payroll, the partners say. Payments are then automatically drawn from the employer's bank account each pay period, eliminating the hassle of writing checks. Upon request, employers can receive e-mail notifications before payments are made and monthly detailed reports from The Hartford. The XactPAY Web premium payment service is free of charge to Intuit QuickBooks Payroll customers that also have Hartford-issued workers' compensation policies.
